Swiss National Day is on 1st August. There are parades in the streets. They dress up the tractors and make them into floats to take part in the parade. This is the parade in Villars which my family always sees.

Even the cows join in. In Switzerland there are a lot of cows. The farmers put bells on the cows so if one gets lost the farmer can find it. Cows can be all sorts of colours. The farmers bring the cows to the fields in summer and in winter they put the cows in the barns and places inside.  In Valais, the cows fight on National Day for the right to lead the herd to the upper pastures.
